QUARTERLY SUMMER 2011
Hi everyone!
Summer IS DEFINITELY HERE! And what a brutal first half it has been, at least as far as record-breaking temperatures are concerned. But all of you know that anyway! Summer Camp has reached the half way mark, as have summer lessons. The farm is a busy place!
SAVE THIS DATE: MARK YOUR CALENDAR NOW FOR THE………
BOARDERS AND STAFF CRAB FEAST AND MORE!
ON FRIDAY EVENING, AUGUST 5, BEGINNING AT 6:30.
PAM AND PETE HAVE WORKED THEIR SCHEDULE AROUND THIS DATE TO PROVIDE YOU WITH THE BEST CRABS TO BE FOUND!!
YOU PROVIDE THE COMPANY PLUS WHATEVER DISHES OR DESSERTS YOU MIGHT WANT TO BRING! WE WILL HAVE beverages, paper goods, silverware and so on. Given our exceptional crew of bakers and cooks, as evidenced by our previous Pam and Pete crab feast, no one will leave hungry!
Location: Camphouse….a grill will be available
HERO DOGS….a warm welcome to the new faces at Friendship Woods!! Starting the first of this month,
Jennifer Lund has secured the Friendship Woods area for her HERO DOGS operation. Check out her website for an impressive glimpse of all that she does with dogs! This area will still be available to us for certain functions and you may still ride across the area, staying close to the woods and on the trails while avoiding the main area by the buildings and where the cabins used to be located.
HORSE TRIALS....
Our first RECOGNIZED event of the year was QUITE SUCCESSFUL! Just about 400 horses were entered to ride in the horse trials and young event horse classes! Our Starter event 3 weeks later was equally successful and fewer entries gave us a busy but somewhat more relaxed day.
Thanks to all of you who volunteered and contributed directly to the success of the weekends!! Your next opportunity is rapidly approaching—August 13, 14.
Expect to be contacted by Liz, who is now the sole volunteer coordinator!!. Katherine is now the new Pony Club Center Administrator and is running that ‘show’ while Liz capably takes the reins of the Volunteer efforts. Check out our VOLUNTEER PAGE outlining available jobs, days, times and so on.
For each and every competition, we need people to set up the week before as well as assist during competition day. Please call the office or speak to any staff member if you have an extra hour or two to share with us—it is greatly appreciated!

BUSINESS NOTES….
- As of 1 September, the rate for Field Board will be increasing to $400/month and for Stall Board, $585/month.
- The Waredaca STORE is now open! Check out a very nice variety of logo wear and items for everyone....T shirts, polos, Tech (moisture wicking) wear, caps, travel mugs, fleece, lots of goodies to choose from!
- If you are going out of town, please leave important details that we may need—i.e., your contact info, dates out of the area, who is responsible for your horse etc in one of two places.... either in an email to waredaca@aol.com OR call the office and leave it with Janey 301 570 4191.
- PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELF AND YOUR HORSE! There are pitchforks and wheelbarrows, brooms and trashcans in each barn; please use them!
- A necessary reminder about our dogs – we love them and are happiest when they are near us but a few common sense guidelines please…for the summer months in particular, all dogs are welcome to visit-- ideally on the weekends and the evenings when the farm is not as busy with other campers and visitors, under your watchful eye and control or leashed if necessary, but may NOT be in any of the rings or around other horses and people.
- Don’t forget to keep the lights OFF in the barn areas except in the late evening when they are truly needed.
- THANKS for closing the gates when you leave if close to dark—we appreciate it!
- DON’T FORGET TO UPDATE THE OFFICE WITH ANY CHANGES TO YOURE-MAIL, CELL PHONES, WORK NUMBERS, AND AN EMERGENCY CONTACT NAME AND NUMBER…
Enough said for now. Thanks for all of your extra attention “around the edges” during this very busy time of the year. Let’s keep Waredaca a safe and pleasant place for all of us!
Sincerely.....the STAFF at WAREDACA................
Robert, Gretchen, Janey, Rob, Gayle, and Steph
