Announcing......our new VOLUNTEER PROGRAM 2008!!

If you have never volunteered at a Waredaca event, now is the best time to start! And for those who have been faithful supporters, here are a few more perks to further ‘THANK YOU’ for your continued assistance!

Each volunteer will receive a ‘waredaca’ bucks voucher, which can be used for anything Waredaca offers: cross country schooling, lessons, board, training, entries, logo wear and so on. The equivalent is $25/4 hours; maximum to earn $50/day, which would be a full day of volunteering.
A Midday raffle drawing for our CASH prizes that occur at each event.
Expect a dedicated Volunteer page on our website that will outline the various volunteer positions, days, coverage hours needed and so on.
Vouchers are limited to the days of competition and are non transferable.
Expiration date for 2008 vouchers will be April 30, 2009.

A thank you from Oct 2007 Horse Trials in the rain.

I attended last week-end's event with friends - so I was there from Fri - Sun. The need to cancel the Training Division was unfortunate but necessary and prudent from a safety point of view. The group that truly distinguished itself and sparkled over the week-end, was the staff of the horse trial. It must take weeks even months to set up an event the size run at Waredaca Farms - and then to have to virtually re-do the whole event in 12 hours is nothing short of incredible. It's no accident that Waredaca is one of my very favourite horse trials. See you next year.

Whether you are experienced horse trial staff or someone who knows only the front end from the other end of a horse, your efforts are important. Many people are required to successfully execute a horse trial. We need volunteers to do many different things-build and paint jumps, score riders going cross country, help with hospitality for our judging officials, work with "numbers" in the results booth, park cars, and so forth. We welcome all curious and interested folks who wish to lend a hand at our competitions. Experience the thrill of being a part of the sport of Eventing!!

Through your volunteer support at events, Waredaca is helping to develop this country's future Olympic athletes as well as offer exciting competition for the many adults and teens who claim combined training as "their" sport!! VOLUNTEERING AT EVENTS (EQUESTRIAN TRIATHLONS)

Here are the areas that we ALWAYS need help with during our weekend competitions:

Parking - this is early - 6:30 am to 1 pm - but a free Starbucks drink of your choice is provided!! :) and breakfast goodies!

Scoring - this usually begins around 8:30 or so - this is control center! Here you will be helping the head scorer tally every rider combinations scores for the day to determine their placing - no need for math prowess - very interesting job!

Dressage -an early start but you finish early and get to learn from some of the best judges in the country and see some great dressage tests!!
In dressage we need: scribes, warm up stewards, bit check, test runners (great job for the kids!!), golf cart driver - need to be at least 16

Stadium - this is a fun place to help out and watch some pretty awesome jumping rounds! In stadium we need: jump crew (pick up fallen poles), timers, score keeper, and warm up stewards

Cross Country - this is a great job! You are assigned a fence per division and you watch all of the amazing horse/rider combinations jump your fence. Bring a camping chair to sit in or a blanket - we will provide score sheets and the briefing informs you how to judge the jumping attempts - in between riders enjoy the sun or shade and the beautiful scenery of Waredaca!!
