SPRING 2010 BOARDER QUARTERLY
Hi everyone!
Yes, spring ( summer ?) is FINALLY here and what a winter it was. “One for the record books” doesn’t begin to describe it. All of the staff sincerely thank each of you for your support and encouragement thru the difficult times. Above it all, your horses and our farm’s best interest were always foremost on everyone’s list. If you need a ‘cool’ reminder this summer if temperatures reach the scorch level, just refer back to the Winter Gallery on the web site!
HORSE TRIALS....
The first event is approaching—Memorial Day weekend in May; Friday will feature both a Future Young Event Horse and a Young Event Horse competition. The weekend will follow the usual format of two levels each on Saturday and Sunday. Our usual Volunteer Incentive Program details are on the website for your review and Katherine and Liz, our exceptional volunteer trackers, asked me to remind you that is it never too early to volunteer!! SAVE THOSE DATES! Also suggest this to a friend as there many positions that do not require hands on horse experience, just willingness and desire to spend the day at Waredaca! Also Margaret asked me to remind everyone to consider being a fence sponsor—you, your family, your favorite pet, almost anyone can be noted on the fence plaque, and for a very affordable fee! Sign up for either via the website—Volunteer and /or Sponsorship pages.

PONY CLUB CENTER COMINGS AND GOINGS...
WOW, what a great center of great kids-- Remy, Anna, Caitlin, Jamie, Annie, Anne, Abi, Bibi, Kate, Amy, Evie, Sarah, Rachel, Haley, Colleen, and Madeline!
The Senior D Team-Jamie Humphries/captain, Anna Britton, Amy Berbert and Colleen McAleer bested the rest and are representing Waredaca and the Maryland Region at USPC Nationals in Lexington, Virginia this summer!! Way to go team!! And our Junior team-Kate Beckham/captain, Remy Nash, Rachel Bartley and Evie Jones finished a VERY respectable 7th as well!!
Jamie shared with us her first person account of the day, basically what it was like from the competitor point of view: We had a great time. After hearing the other teams names being called (Burntwoods, Iron Bridge, etc. who did amazing!) we didn't think we placed at all. Everybody answered high point questions and we tried our best and it payed off! We all had a lot of fun and it was a great experience for everybody. Nationals are going to be awesome! I don't think we took any pics... the photographers took pics of us with our ribbons, as a team while we were waiting for barn phase, and during stations though. Thanks for getting us this far as we couldn't have done it without everybody's help!
Two of our supportive parents shared their sentiments with me....Gretchen, you would of been so proud of the girls. They were polite, well spoken and composed. They were supportive of one another with a real team attitude. When they announced that our Senior D team had won first place, I thought I would explode! I was so excited for them. Our Junior D team handled themselves beautifully and we were all so proud of their 7th place achievement among the 23 teams that showed up for the rally. Unfortunately, I have no photos to contribute………..Susan Bartley
The kids were great!!! They were responsible, eager, well behaved and
most of all accurate in their responses. Great job training them
Kristen!!………. Deborah Steel
Mark your calendar now: National’s will be held in Lexington, Va. from July 29th – Aug. 1st.
These girls have been very busy with lessons from Kristen, Devon and Steph. Now onto spring ratings and events for the group!
DON’T FORGET TO UPDATE THE OFFICE WITH ANY CHANGES TO YOUR
E-MAIL, CELL PHONES, WORK NUMBERS, AND AN EMERGENCY CONTACT NAME AND NUMBER…
Some reminders as spring approaches....
- Parking can be a problem on weekends and evenings! We ask that boarders please NOT park by the indoor arena, leaving that area free for visiting lesson students.
- For field boarders, that groom in the Red Barn, please move outside and use the corral instead of the aisles—more room, less traffic-you get the picture! And PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELF AND YOUR HORSE ESPECIALLY IN THE WASH STALL—PER ROBERT! There are pitchforks and wheelbarrows, brooms and trashcans in each barn; please use them!
- Don’t forget to keep the lights OFF in the barn areas except in the late evening when they are truly needed.
- Trailers with or without attached trucks can be parked in the West Entrance gravel area for now rather than the area at the White Barn off of Howard Chapel; an alternative site may be where some of the jumps are stored behind Mr. B’s house; stay tuned for more details about that.
Enough said for one letter! Thanks for all of your extra attention “around the edges” during this very busy time of the year. Let’s keep Waredaca safe and pleasant for all!
Sincerely.....the STAFF at WAREDACA................
Robert, Gretchen, Janey, Rob, Gayle, and Steph
