G S JUNIOR HORSE LOVERS BADGE PROGRAM
As you look over the requirements to earn your badge, there are some that you can explore and find the answers to from general sources as well as those that require professional knowledge that the staff at Waredaca can expertly provide.
Our  Badge Program is scheduled as a two hour session.

Your unmounted time with us will take about an hour. During that time, you will:

• Have an orientation and tour of the stable as we discuss with you the care of horses.  Explain what they eat, how much and how often.  What kind of treats they may have.  What is included in everyday care for a stable and what is necessary for their well being.  Why horses need to be shod and how it’s done.

• Examine the tools needed to groom a horse and discover the purpose of each.  Learn how to brush a horse before and after saddling.

• Discuss safe riding rules, good ring manners, safe clothing and gear for riding.

• Watch the saddling and bridling of a horse.   Explain safety concerns during the process.

A mounted trailride follows receiving a very basic demonstration of mounting, correct positioning, explanation of stopping and turning.  Then our staff will assist you to mount, adjust stirrups, and then proceed on a pleasant 30-40 minute trailride thru the pastures of our farm.

LIMIT SIZE: 15 may ride at one time;
FEE: $30 each sc out
TIME: 2 hour sessions.  This program is typically scheduled on Saturday afternoons spring and fall.  Please contact our business office at 301 570 4191 to reserve your date. Schedule your troop to take part in this great horseback riding opportunity today.  Adults may also pay to ride if space allows.


G S BROWNIE HORSE LOVERS ‘TASTER’ ....for ages 6, 7, and 8 year olds.

Enjoy a short orientation on safety followed by a barn tour and opportunity to watch a horse being groomed and saddled.   Learn colors, parts of the horse and how to safely feed a horse treat!  
LIMIT SIZE: Minimum 6; maximum 12
FEE: $10 each scout
TIME: Up to 60 minutes. (Depends on number of riders)

G S CADETTE MINI HORSEBACK RIDING LESSON PROGRAM ....for preteens and teens

Enjoy a 4 week package of horse back riding lessons scheduled on a weekday afternoon.
Advanced sign up required.
LIMIT SIZE: Minimum 6; maximum 12
FEE: $125 each scout
TIME: scheduled for an hour; approximate riding time 45-50 minutes
